## Connecting to Fritzbox’s WLAN First
Before you can access the Fritzbox from your computer or smartphone, you need to connect your computer to the Fritzbox via WLAN (or LAN cable). If you’re using a smartphone, simply use the WLAN connection. You can find the pre-set name of your Fritzbox’s WLAN network on the bottom of the Fritzbox, along with the corresponding WLAN password (also known as the WLAN network key). After that, you can log in to the Fritzbox using your browser to check or change settings.
## How to Access the Fritzbox User Interface
To open the Fritzbox user interface, type “http://fritz.box” into the address bar of your browser and press Enter. Alternatively, you can enter the IP address of the Fritzbox in the address bar. In the factory settings, the IP address is “http://192.168.178.1”. If you don’t know the IP address of your Fritzbox, if a static IP address has been set up, or if you have forgotten it, you can easily find out the IP address. Instead, enter it into the browser’s address bar and press Enter. When you see the login mask, enter the password that you set during the initial setup of the Fritzbox.
## Unable to Access the Fritzbox (7590) Anymore
If you enter the correct IP address but still can’t access the Fritzbox, you should use the emergency IP of the Fritzbox:
– Enter “http://169.254.1.1” in your browser’s address bar and press Enter.
– If that doesn’t work either, connect your PC and the Fritzbox with a LAN cable and try again from your PC.
## Resetting the Fritzbox Password
If you see the Fritzbox’s login mask but have forgotten the login password, you will need to reset the Fritzbox to its factory settings in order to access the router settings again. Unless you have activated the password recovery function in the Fritzbox settings beforehand. In that case, the Fritzbox will send you a link to your email address, allowing you to log in again even if you forgot the password.

1. Open your browser.
2. Type “http://fritz.box” as the URL. If this address doesn’t work, you can access the Fritzbox using the IP address. The default IP address is usually 192.168.178.1 or 169.254.1.1.
